FundaMental Change Scholarship

FundaMental Change has partnered with the Andres y Maria Cardenas Family Foundation to offer academic scholarships to eligible college students who have experienced a mental health condition personally or within their close family or who are pursuing a mental health related field of study. 

Scholarship Eligibility:

To be eligible for this scholarship, students must be a current high school senior attending one of the following high schools in the Northeast San Fernando Valley: Arleta, Cesar Chavez Learning Center Academies, James Monroe, Kennedy, Mc Alister, Mission Continuation, North Hollywood, Panorama, Polytechnic, San Fernando, Sylmar, Sylmar Bio Tech Magnet and Van Nuys.


or

  • Must have graduated from one of the above-listed schools and
  • Must be accepted or enrolled in a college, trade/vocational school, university, or community college in the fall of 2025 and attendance through the spring of 2026 as a full-time student. As an undergraduate, you must carry at least 12 units.

or

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student at Los Angeles Mission College.

and

  • Must apply for federal financial aid using the Free Applications for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).


AB540 students are eligible to apply if they meet the above General Eligibility Requirements.


Students can continue to apply for the Andrés y María Cárdenas Family Foundation Scholarship through their collegiate journey if they meet the above General Eligibility Requirements.


Applicants may not be direct descendants of Andrés y María Cárdenas.
