Ashleigh Larson, MPH - Programs Manager

Ashleigh

Ashleigh has over six years of experience working in the public health sector. She joined CSUN staff in 2018 as the Master of Public Health (MPH) Online Program Coordinator, overseeing the academic needs of the online MPH cohorts at CSUN. In 2021, she was hired by UCLA as Program Manager of Public Health Practice at the Fielding School of Public Health, providing her expertise in program management, and establishing community partnerships. She currently teaches multiple subjects at CSUN in the Health Sciences department as a Lecturer, and continues part-time as an administrator for the Master of Public Health programs.

Ashleigh initially joined FundaMental Change in 2020 as an intern, while completing her MPH at CSUN. In December 2020, after graduating with her MPH, she joined FundaMental Change as Programs Manager, overseeing and facilitating multiple programs offered by FundaMental Change (including Mental Health First Aid, Annual Mental Health Symposiums, Annual Scholarships, and most recently the 2023 Mental Health Forum). Since 2020, Ashleigh has been an integral part of FundaMental Change’s success in advancing our mission to increase awareness and eliminate the stigma associated with mental health conditions.

Ashleigh was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. She attended local LAUSD public schools and completed her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at CSUN, as well as a Master of Public Health (MPH), with an emphasis in Community Health Education.

Ashleigh spends her free time with her family. She and her husband Justin are raising their three children in the San Fernando Valley.

Angela Padilla - President

Angela Padilla is a passionate mental health advocate. Angela's commitment is rooted in her personal experience with mental health. For nearly forty years, Angela's mother has lived with bipolar and schizoaffective disorders. As a result, Angela became an avid consumer of mental health information at a young age, which motivated her to earn a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Master's in Public Administration (MPA) with a focus on Health Administration. She learned that even in the age of the internet, accurate and reliable mental health information could be difficult for consumers to find.

As part of her advocacy, Angela publicly shares her unique perspectives and experiences with a diverse range of audiences by speaking at schools, to community organizations, and at special events. Before establishing FundaMental Change, Angela worked as an Assistant Vice President/LR Manager for Bank of America.

Angela was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. She graduated from Canoga Park High School, earned an Associate's degree from Los Angeles Pierce College and both a Bachelor's and Master's degree from California State University Northridge. Angela lives in the San Fernando Valley with her husband and their three children.

Julianna Ruelas - MPHc

Julianna Ruelas

Julianna joined our team this year as an intern, bringing her knowledge as a current Master of Public Health (MPH) student at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). She has been employed by Amgen, a Biopharmaceutical company, in Los Angeles for the past six years. She currently holds the role of Senior Quality Assurance Associate and inspects all the incoming raw materials used to serve their patients.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology, she knew she wanted to further her education. When COVID plagued our world in 2020, she knew she wanted to earn her MPH degree so she could help others who were struggling with not only their physical health, but mental health as well.

Outside of being a full-time student and a full-time employee of Amgen, she is a mother to a beautiful daughter named Camila.
