About Us

Our Purpose

Angela Padilla was raised in the San Fernando Valley by her single mother who was diagnosed with Bipolar I with schizoaffective disorder at a young age. Angela recalls first witnessing her mom in crisis when Angela was only 3 years old. Growing up as a daughter, caretaker, and advocate, Angela has experienced first hand the difference that quality care can make in the life of an individual living with a mental illness and to their loved ones. This inspired Angela to earn a bachelors degree in Psychology from California State University Northridge and to incorporate FundaMental Change.

To advance our mission, FundaMental Change has identified and is engaging in a number of strategies, events, and initiatives that leverage FundaMental Change’s biggest strength as a convener of important policy leaders, community leaders, grassroots leaders, and residents across the San Fernando Valley and beyond. These initiatives include hosting an Annual Mental Health Symposium every May, which is Mental Health Awareness Month, our Sip of Hope series (community conversations about suicide prevention, mental health, and wellbeing), and sponsoring Mental Health First Aid Training (beginning Fall of 2019).
